Lisa Rodrigues

Samaritans - Brighton, Hove and District
Samaritans are available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. Our vision is for a society in which: fewer people die by suicide; people can explore their feelings, and acknowledge and respect the feelings of others.

Lisa Rodrigues does Ride London 46

My page:

Some of you know that I returned to being a Samaritan last year, volunteering at the Brighton, Hove and District branch. Each branch is a stand alone charity, and has to raise all its running costs, supported by the central charity who provide the infrastucture, policies and publicity that make Samaritans one of the best recognised and most effective charities in the UK.

Having raised £7.5K for the central charity by doing Ride London 100 in 2015 and 2016, my challenge this year is more modest. For me, 100 miles was becoming more agony than ecstasy.

So this year I am doing Ride London 46 instead. I want to raise just enough money to keep my wonderful local branch open 2 of the 365 days in a year. Together, 200 Samaritans branches take 5.5 million calls, emails and texts from our callers, who come from anywhere in the UK and Republic of Ireland. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In addition, Brighton, Hove and District Samaritans is open from 10am - 10pm 7 days a week for face-to-face callers.

The money I raise will help pay our running costs, phone bills, publicity and buy tea and biscuits for our callers and volunteers.

We are always there for people who are lonely or desperate. Please help us.

Thank you.
