Charity

The Daisy Garland
A family-run national children’s charity providing active support for children with drug-resistant epilepsy and their parents/carers. The charity was set up in memory of our daughter Daisy who tragically died at 6 years of age from SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy patients). We provide NHS hospitals with ketogenic dietitians - a medically recognised and accepted way of treating drug resistant epilepsy. This diet is not widely available on the NHS due to lack of funding. We also provide grants for night-time breathing monitors to children with drug-resistant epilepsy.

I'm sure most people know that my son Fletcher suffers with epilepsy having been diagnosed at the age of 4 years old. Fletcher suffers from genetic epilepsy which means that he has no triggers and unfortunately he suffers with drug resistant epilepsy so controlling the condition is very hard.

Recently we we're introduced to a charity called The Daisy Garland as a result of Fletcher starting the ketogenic diet in an attempt to control his seizures / epilepsy.

The Daisy Garland charity was set up in memory of a young girl named Daisy who suffered from epilepsy however tragically died of SUDEP (sudden unexplained death in epilepsy patients).

This charity have provided us with a SATS Monitor (free of charge) to monitor Fletcher's heart rate and oxygen levels during his sleep due to the large number of night time seizures he suffers.
The charity also fund ketogenic nurse placements at hospital these are the people who design and monitor Fletcher's diet.
The charity regularly send surprises through the post to both Fletcher and Lexie and provide support 365 days of the year just a call away.
I have decided to try and raise funds for The Daisy Garland so they can continue to amazing work and support families like my own.
As such I will be running 7 miles per day for 70 days starting on 1st March.
Any money you could spare by means of a donation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Martin
