Charity

The Daisy Garland
A family-run national children’s charity providing active support for children with drug-resistant epilepsy and their parents/carers. The charity was set up in memory of our daughter Daisy who tragically died at 6 years of age from SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy patients). We provide NHS hospitals with ketogenic dietitians - a medically recognised and accepted way of treating drug resistant epilepsy. This diet is not widely available on the NHS due to lack of funding. We also provide grants for night-time breathing monitors to children with drug-resistant epilepsy.
Only 0 days to go!

I'm sure most people know that my son Fletcher suffers with epilepsy having been diagnosed at the age of 4 years old. Fletcher suffers from generalised epilepsy which means that he has no triggers and unfortunately he suffers with drug resistant epilepsy so controlling the condition is very hard.

Recently we we're introduced to a charity called The Daisy Garland as a result  Fletcher has started the ketogenic diet in an attempt to control his seizures / epilepsy.

The Daisy Garland charity was set up in memory of a young girl named Daisy who suffered from epilepsy however tragically died of SUDEP (sudden unexplained death in epilepsy patients).

This charity have provided us with a SATS Monitor (free of charge) to monitor Fletcher's heart rate and oxygen levels during his sleep due to the large number of night time seizures he suffers.
The charity also fund ketogenic nurse placements at hospital these are the people who design and monitor Fletcher's diet.
The charity regularly send surprises through the post to both Fletcher and Lexie and provide support 365 days of the year just a call away.
I have decided to try and raise funds for The Daisy Garland so they can continue to amazing work and support families like my own.
Unfortunately due to a tough time of late that Fletcher has been going through I had to cut the running short due to increased care needs.
Following on from the 7 miles for 70 days I along with two of my longest and best friends Lee Heywood and James Mawdsley will be taking on the Yorkshire three peaks on Saturday 22nd April. This consists of a 24.5 mile route comprising of 3 mountain summits to climb. The standard time for this challenge is under 12 hours although we will be aiming for under 9 hours.
Any money you could spare by means of a donation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Martin, Lee & James
