Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. We’ve saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, and survival has doubled over the past 40 years. We fund research into more than 200 types of cancer from the most common, such as breast, bowel, lung and prostate cancers, to rare types of tumours and children’s cancers, we support groundbreaking science that benefits everyone.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the charity that saves lives at sea. The RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews rescue an average of 23 people a day around the coasts and waterways of the UK and the Republic of Ireland. From 235 lifeboat stations, they are well trained and equipped to put to sea in the most fearsome conditions when the call comes. RNLI lifeguards patrol more than 200 beaches in the UK. As well as rescuing people from the water, they are also on hand for first aid and safety advice, making sure everyone can make the most of their day at the beach. Are you passionate about the water? Do you want to be part of a lifesaving team? Whatever the reason for your interest in our work, we’d love to have you onboard. The RNLI is an independent charity and receives no government funding. We rely on public support.

Neil Taylor's Clipper Challenge (CRUK & RNLI)

Neil Taylor

My page:

I'm competeing in the Clipper Round the World 13-14 Yacht Race, not only because there is an ocean to be crossed, but also to raise money for two great charities:

  • RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution
  • Cancer Research UK.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

Late in 2011 I decided to apply to a leg of the Clipper Round The World 13-14 Yacht Race!

This is something I have toyed with doing over a number of years since from around 2004 and until recently never considered it seriously. Then a chance conversation with a friend and the fact that the 2013-2014 will coincide with my 50th birthday led me to look at it more seriously leading me to apply, and ultimately gain a place on Leg 1.

Since siging on for Leg 1 I have subsequently added Leg (Rio to Capetown) and Leg 3 (Capetown to Western Australia).

Full details of the challenge can be found on my blog site:
