Walking With The Wounded
Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) was established in 2010 to raise funds to finance the re-training of wounded servicemen and women and in so doing assist them in acquiring the skills and qualifications necessary to find new careers outside the military. Our ability to fundraise effectively ensures we can finance new qualifications, courses and further education through our First Steps Bursary Scheme as well as via organisations and projects; such as The Warrior Programme and The Poppy Factory. This enables the blind, the burn victims, the mentally injured, the amputees and all the other wounded to rebuild their lives and return to the work place and in so doing provide long-term security for themselves and their families. In conjunction with individual fundraising events, Walking With The Wounded also promotes awareness of the charity, our wounded community and the challenges faced by all those living with disability by undertaking high profile expeditions with wounded veterans and serving soldiers that are generously funded by corporate donors. These corporate sponsorships allow private donations such as yours to go exclusively towards the work we do helping re-educate and retrain our injured veterans. Following the success of our previous expeditions to the North Pole in 2011 and Mount Everest in 2012, this year’s expedition, the South Pole Allied Challenge, is our most ambitious yet, and involves three teams of wounded servicemen and women from the United Kingdom, the United States and the Commonwealth embarking on a race to the Geographic South Pole this December. At a time when so many charities are asking for people's generosity, we are hugely grateful for any donations which are made. Please follow our build up to the expedition at Many thanks for your support.

The Marathon Des Sables - Rob and George 2017

Rob Blair

My page:

Hi guys, thanks for visiting our charity fundraising page! Many of you know that George and I love a challenge, and this year we decided to run the toughest foot race on earth! If you're gonna aim high, then why not aim for the top?

We are rasing £20,000 BIG ONES! We are doing this via various fundraising events including THE DARTMOOR DREADNOUGHT in March.

THE DARTMOOR DREADNOUGHT! Teams of 4 carrying Oak logs up to 80kg in weight over three days (Camping out and self supported)

We have four teams including several EX Speciasl forces guys being flown in from the states. Thanks to Francesco for organising.

In previous years we have run other ultra marathons including the Atlantic Coast Ultra (3 marathons in 3 days along the south coast) and The Wall (69 miles along Hadrian's Wall), but this time we're going bigger and better! The 250km long race is run through the Moroccan Sahara over 6 days, and in conditions often exceeding 50 degrees C! We aim to complete the gruelling course to raise as much money as possible for the charity Walking With The Wounded, who work tirelessly re-educating and re-training wounded servicemen and women. During the course of their work, many servicemen and women suffer horrific injuries. When they return home they face a very different future to the one they had planned and with challenges they never imagined. Too often, they are viewed with pity and sorrow, which they don't want, but they do need our support. Walking With The Wounded champions them, to show people how remarkable they are, and show how they face their future with the same courage and determination which they demonstrated on the front line.
