Meningitis Research Foundation
Meningitis Research Foundation is a registered charity established in 1989. With over 15,000 individual members and supporters with personal experience of meningitis and septicaemia, MRF is working towards a world free from meningitis and septicaemia. We aim to achieve this by funding research to prevent meningitis and septicaemia, and to improve survival rates and outcomes. We also promote education and awareness to reduce death and disability, and give support to people affected.

My page:

Thank you for visiting our page and taking the time to read this.

Many of you will know that Tim, my younger brother and one of my favourite people, almost didn’t make it to become the wonderful young man that he is today. At six months old he contracted bacteria (haemophilus) meningitis requiring life support and six long weeks in a paediatric intensive care unit. This dreadful illness can have far reaching consequences and Tim has had his share of difficulties following on from his recovery from the acute illness of his childhood...but you might never know from meeting him! He has such a zest for life, is talented, kind and possesses incredible empathy and love abounding.

Tim was also lucky, he had our mum who recognised the symptoms and got him to hospital in time, and he received excellent care in his short and long term recovery. Not everyone is so lucky.

So Tim (a survivor of the disease) and I (a spectator of its impact) have decided to run the London Marathon together in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation  and help raise money to help facilitate research which hopefully will result in improved vaccination possibilities and treatments for the many different strains of this disease.

If you want to learn more see the link below...

Thank you all for your support, it is really appreciated. We will try to post some training updates as we go along but for now you just get to see a very cute picture of Timmy having just been discharged from the hospital (a personal favourite of mine).

Love S & T x
