Charity
The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Children’s Fund supports the children and families of those serving and non-serving personnel from the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines wherever there is need, hardship or distress. It has been in operation for over 100 years, originally supporting children of ex-servicemen but changing over the years so that nowadays around 80% of our beneficiaries’ parents are still serving. A high proportion (48%) of our beneficiaries have special needs or physical disability and their development has been thwarted by frequent family moves, which prevent the vital stability that children need. Add to that the complexity of moving from English to Scottish or to foreign educational, social services and health systems on a regular basis, and many poor families, especially those without an extended family, just cannot cope. 48% of our cases relate to the child’s disability or illness, 37% to parental illness and 14% of cases arise out of relationship problems. The majority of our cases are situated in the areas where there is a Naval/Marines presence but we have some families in other areas of the UK. We currently have over 1,500 active cases and spend around £1.2m annually. We do this with just two full-time staff and a small group of very active and committed trustees, who are made up of serving officers or other naval personnel together with civilian Trustees who bring experience in other fields to the many problems encountered. Consideration of every circumstance is therefore given swift and sympathetic attention by people who understand the difficulties of service and seafaring life.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. This year, as it is an Olympic year for the United Kingdom, I have set myself what I consider to be an Olympic challenge.
My aim is to complete 2012 miles of cycling by 31 December 2012!
This will include at least one charity ride of 30 miles which I will undertake 10th June 2012. Including Portsdown Hill!!
You can catch up with my totals on Facebook as every cycle ride that I complete is posted up as I finish it. Thank you to Runkeeper!
Total so far = 1390 miles
I HAVE RECENTLY SUFFERED WITH AN ABSCESS AT THE TOP OF MY LEG WHICH HAS PUT ME RATHER BEHIND SOMEWHAT. YOU WILL NOTICE THAT I NOW HAVE TO AVERAGE GREATER THAN 10 MILES A DAY TO ACHIEVE MY GOAL!!!
The entire proceeds will be donated to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Children’s Fund (www.rnrmchildrensfund.org.uk), who are the only charity that support the children of the Naval Service.
In the last financial year the fund supported 1902 children, 70% of whom are the children of serving personnel. Our expenditure was £1.3million. 2% administration costs.
- £40 buys disposable nappies for a month
- £100 buys school uniform
- £300 pays for 5 sessions of speech therapy
- £600 pays for childcare for a month
- £8000 per month goes towards respite and childcare
- £10000 per month pays towards clothing and equipment for disabled children
48.5% of the children have disability and illness (mental/physical)
37% Parental illness or death
14.5% Parental relationship issues
6% of all the children have experienced death of a parent or sibling.
20% of the cases come to us through NPFS
30% self refer (hence the importance of having our own caseworker)
50% through other avenues which include other children’s charities, SSAFA etc
Thanks for looking
This is not the only charity support that I give:
Throughout the year I give at least £35 per month to charity in Standing Order donations. (The beneficiaries are – The British Legion, WWF, RSPB, RNLI and Christian Aid)
I recently displayed my Ferrari at Highclere Castle for Naomi house where they raised £7,000.
Tuesday 15th May I and Wessex Ferrari Owners Club drove recuperating Soldiers, from Tedworth House, around the Witshire countryside.
Saturday 19th May I participated in a Dragon Boat event at IBM Lake for Naomi House, raising a further £1,320.
I organised Planes, Games and Automobiles at Goodwood Motor Circuit, 4th June 2012, all in aid of the RNRMCF which raised a whopping £17,000 from our first ever one day event. After costs this delivered just over £10,000 to the charity.
10th June - BHF Round the Harbours. I cycled 33 miles in 2 hours 14 minutes and was absolutley exhausted!
23rd June I donated my time, car and fuel to giving passenger rides around the Top Gear track at Dunsfold for the Supercar event.
19th August - I cycled 48.15 miles around the New Forest in a very respectable 3 hours, 30 minutes and 18 seconds.
27/28th August - Two days of voluntering at Wings & Wheels raising a whopping £562!!
Please bear all of this in mind and let it sway you into sponsoring me.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me quickly and easily and all proceeds will be processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all of your support and thank you for any donations.
