National Autistic Society
The National Autistic Society is the UK's leading charity for people affected by Autism. Over half a million people in the UK have autism. Together with their families they make up over two million people whose lives are touched by autism every single day. Despite this, autism is still relatively unknown and misunderstood. Which means that many of these two million people get nothing like the level of help, support and understanding they need. Together, we are going to change this.

My page:

Hello and thank you for visiting my page.

I am running the London Marathon for my daughter Grace, who has Asperger Syndrome.

Grace was a sunny and affectionate baby but over the years I have watched her grow upset and anxious as she struggles to fit into a world whose rules she finds hard to understand. Every day my beautiful, brave girl hopes to find friendship and joy. Too often she encounters instead bullying and intolerance.

I have spent years struggling to get a diagnosis and fighting for support. I have come across great kindness but more often I have been shocked by how little people know and understand about autism and Asperger Syndrome.

Running the London Marathon is a way to raise awareness and funds so that Grace and children like her can blossom instead of wilt. I am running for the National Autistic Society to tell Grace’s story and to tell Grace I will not let her down. I am taking on the hardest physical challenge of my life and taking inspiration from Grace's courage and grit.

I appreciate that this is a difficult climate in which to ask for funds. Every pound you can spare will make a difference. Every pound will counter indifference.
