Charity

National Autistic Society
The National Autistic Society is the UK's leading charity for people affected by Autism. Over half a million people in the UK have autism. Together with their families they make up over two million people whose lives are touched by autism every single day. Despite this, autism is still relatively unknown and misunderstood. Which means that many of these two million people get nothing like the level of help, support and understanding they need. Together, we are going to change this.

Hello and thank you for visiting my page.

I am running the Royal Parks half-marathon for the third time this year, in honour of my elder daughter. Grace has tawny eyes and a freckle on her thumb, and she also has Asperger's Syndrome.

Grace and I spent years struggling to get a diagnosis and fighting for support. We came across great kindness but were also often shocked by how little people know and understand about autism and Asperger's Syndrome. Every day my beautiful, brave girl takes on a world whose rules she often finds hard to understand. Every day she offers friendship and joy. Too often she encounters intolerance instead.

Running the Royal Parks is a way to raise awareness and funds so that Grace and children like her can blossom. I am running for the National Autistic Society to tell Grace’s story and to tell Grace I will not let her down. I am taking on a hard physical challenge, inspired by Grace's grit.

I appreciate that this is a terribly difficult climate in which to ask for funds. Every pound you can spare will make a difference. Every pound you can spare will help stamp out indifference.
