Diabetes UK
Diabetes UK is the charity for people with diabetes, their family, friends and carers. Our mission is to improve the lives of people with the condition and work towards a future without diabetes. Diabetes UK is one of the largest patient organisations in Europe. We stand up for the interests of people with diabetes by campaigning for better standards of care. We are the largest funder in the UK of research into better treatments for diabetes and the search for a cure. We provide practical support and information and safety net services to help people manage their diabetes. For more information please visit our website:
MND Association
The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association is the only national organisation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland dedicated to the support of people with MND and everyone who cares for them. We improve care and support for people living with MND, their families and carers and fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments, and brings us closer to a cure for MND. We also campaign and raise awareness so the needs of people with MND and everyone who cares for them are recognised and addressed by wider society. Our vision is a world free from MND. East Anglian Air Ambulance
East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) is a 365-day-a-year helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. We do not receive regular direct government funding and the £10.2 million we need to raise this year comes directly from charitable donations. Our medical crews have enhanced clinical skills and provide a lifesaving service to your local community, so every donation counts and every supporter is deeply valued by EAAA.
Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes (H4H) was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in the summer of 2007. Bryn and Emma met some extraordinarily brave young people who had been badly wounded and they just wanted to do something to help. "It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."
Cool Earth Action
Cool Earth works alongside indigenous communities to protect endangered rainforest 1. Put local people in control of threatened rainforest 2. Agree zero logging contracts 3. Build better incomes, better schools, better clinics 4. Do the same with the next village 5. Create a shield for the rainforest Cool Earth has protected 250,000 acres of forest that sit directly in the paths of chainsaws and bulldozers, creating a living shield to a further 2.5 million acres of forest. By spending more than 90p of every £1 donated directly on keeping the forest standing and focusing on the protection of the most at-risk rainforest, Cool Earth ensures that each donation makes the biggest difference possible.

Albert goes to Mongolia - Other charities

Albert Minor, Matt Givertz, Sarah Givertz

My page:

This was a challenge on many levels;

Firstly, driving a 47 year old car (Albert) 20,620 miles in 4 months which involved long driving days and is mentally draining as well as very tiring.  Sarah and Matt shared the driving with deserts and rough roads testing all three of us!

Secondly, to try and keep costs down we are intending to camp as much as possible.  Roughing it is always a challenge but one I'm sure will rise to

Finally and probably the most challenging aspect of this whole adventure is that Sarah and Matt have been divorced for over 25 years and in that time have raised two lovely daughters but haven't spent more than three days together (and certainly not alone!) and now this trip is going to need them to spend 4 months together pretty much 24 hours a day.  Want to know what happened? read our blog at or have a look at our group on Facebook at

The charities being supported have been broken down into three groups;

Children's charitiesCancer charities and Other charities

Whatever your reason for supporting us, be it impressed with our driving such a distance in an old car while roughing it or simply because you think we are mad, please donate and help us help them help the people who need it
