Guess what, I've put my money where my mouth is! After spending years recruiting people to run the 10k for the HIV charity I work for, NAM, I thought I would have a go myself! I'm only sorry I haven't done it sooner.
So, I'm running the 10K in London for NAM! I've even purchased some 'running tights' which sound frightening but are actually just runners lingo for leggings, phew.
I've worked for NAM for over three years now and see the effect of it's impact day in day out. Being diagnosed with HIV is often a really frightening and confusing time, there's loads of information to take in, strict treatment regimes to adhere to, and on top of all that there's the decision of whether or not to tell your family and friends which can be an incredibly stressful decision.
NAM is here to help people through the difficult times, to explain really clearly and simply what a diagnosis means, what treatment is all about, how and why it's necessary to take medication, and explain what people can do to live a long and healthy live with HIV.
There's no way I would have worked somewhere for so long if I didn't wholeheartedly believe in the cause, if you want any more info you can go to www.aidsmap.com and have a nosey round our website.
I really appreciate any support you can give me, even if it's just a couple of quid, I can absolutely guarantee that every penny will be put to good use improving the lives of people with HIV (trust me, I have insider knowledge).
