The Bucket and Spade Ride

The Bucket and Spade Ride 2012 The Bucket & Spade Cycle is a 75 mile charity ride organised by Shoreline Church, Southport with a vision to offer local churches, businesses and charities a high-quality, networking event where riders can turn-up and cycle for a charity of their choice... and also get fit! The Ride supports 3 nominated charities: Shoreline Church is a LOCAL charity supporting youth projects, soup kitchens, life skills initiatives, counselling and activity programmes in Southport. shorelinechurch.org.uk Green Pastures is a NATIONAL charitable landlord partnering with councils and charities to provide long-term housing and care for homeless people in Southport and across the UK. greenpastures.net Tear Fund is an INTERNATIONAL charity which provides humanitarian aid, development support and disaster response to crisis areas across the world. tearfund.org We accommodate riders of different abilities by cycling side-by-side in a 'peloton' and chat and network along the way. Cycling is a great 'leveller' for small and large business individuals to come together for a valuable cause. The Bucket & Spade offers a sedate 'fun' ride with regular drink-stops, support vehicles and mechanic back-up. We think it's the closest thing to the Tour de France experience... without the hills! Our route links two of the northwest's classic seaside resorts, from Southport to Blackpool via Lytham... and back again. In 2012 we are targeting 50 riders and £10,000 sponsorship.
