Parkinson's UK
Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson's. Because we're here, no one has to face Parkinson's alone. We bring people with Parkinson's, their carers and families together via our network of local groups, our website and free confidential helpline. Specialist nurses, our supporters and staff provide information on every aspect of Parkinson's. As the UK's Parkinson's support and research charity we're leading the work to find a cure, and we're closer than ever. We also campaign to change attitudes and demand better services. Our work is totally dependant on donations. Help us to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's.

Well, I made it!

I finished the Virgin London Marathon 2013 in 5:29:17 and I'm proud to say I ran the whole thing.  I didn't quite look like Paula when crossing the line, but not bad for a girl with a dodgy knee!

Thank you so much for your support.  It's made a huge difference for someone with Parkinson's.

I’m running the London Marathon for Parkinson's UK in April.

Having spent years watching hundreds of inspirational runners take part to support the charity, I decided it was time for me to ‘woman up’ and get involved.  And I have to do it before my old lady knees give way – which will be quite likely after this!

Most importantly, I want to raise as much money as possible for a very worthwhile and often overlooked cause.  I’ve worked with people with Parkinson’s for over seven years and have been privileged to hear their experiences of living with the condition.  A diagnosis of Parkinson’s changes your life and those of the people closest to you in so many ways.

Months of training, fundraising and going without gin and tonic (!), followed by 26.2 miles on race day, are nothing compared to the challenges facing someone with Parkinson’s.

Because Parkinson’s UK is here, no one has to face Parkinson’s alone.  They offer invaluable advice, support and information to people with Parkinson’s and their families.  They’re also leading the work to find a cure and are closer than ever.  But they can’t keep doing all of this vital work without voluntary donations.

So, whether you want to support a fantastic cause or just show solidarity with someone who clearly has no idea what she’s letting herself in for, please give as generously as you feel you can.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Parkinson's UK. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

Thank you for your support – my blisters and Parkinson’s UK will really appreciate it!
