Changing Faces
Changing Faces is the leading UK charity that supports and represents people who have disfigurements to the face, hand or body from any cause. We were founded in 1992 by James Partridge OBE, Chief Executive, who was injured in a car fire when he was 18 years old. Today we have a team of 25 professionals with expertise in psychology, education, employment, health and social care, media and campaigning. Our work involves: providing personal support for children, young people, adults and families; working with schools, employers, health and social care professionals to ensure a culture of inclusion for people with disfigurements; and campaigning for social change by working with the media, government and opinion leaders.

My page:

I was born with a Birthmark, also known as a haemangioma to give it its medical name, covering 3 quarters of my face, my left arm, right leg and chest. A few years ago I enlisted the help of the charity “Changing Faces” as the emotional strain of living with my condition had become more than I was able to deal with on my own.

Changing Faces is a charity for people and families who are living with conditions, marks or scars that affect their appearance. Their work is divided into two areas:

  • Changing Lives - They aim to help individuals lead full, confident and satisfying lives by giving practical and emotional support to adults, children and their families.
  • Changing Minds - They aim to transform public attitudes towards people with an unusual appearance. Their goal is 'face equality' and they promote fair treatment and equal opportunities for all, irrespective of how they look.

I am going to run circa 500 miles in training for this marathon, I would really appreciate any donation you can afford (especially a big one).
