Charity

Raleigh International Trust
Raleigh is a well established youth and education charity originally formed in 1984. Over 30,000 young people have taken transformational journeys on Raleigh expeditions with tangible proven outcomes. Our particular expertise is in creating a supportive but challenging environment in which young people can learn to work together in teams from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. Our young people have made a substantial contribution to the improvement of basic services such as water, sanitation and education in marginalised communities across the world. At a time of unprecedented challenge for youth in the UK we want to ensure that young people have the choice to take responsibility for their own lives and achieve their potential, regardless of their background or financial circumstances. With your support you will help us to make a positive impact on the lives of these young people, to give them skills and confidence and to raise their aspirations so that they can make a positive change in society.

Raleigh India 11A - 10k run

Here at Raleigh India, we will all be taking part in a 10k run at the end of expedition to raise money to go towards a project in the next expedition to build a house for one of the families in the tribal village of Kotapadi in the Nilgiri Hills in Tamil Nadu and we’d love it if you could sponsor us.

Raleigh groups will be working with our partner CTRD in the village of Kotapadi during the next expedition to build eco-sanitation units, however it would be fantastic if the groups were also able to build a house for one of the tribal village families that are currently living in a tarpaulin shelter. The house will cost 85,000 Indian rupees to build which is the equivalent of about £1,300, so it would be fantastic if you could sponsor your family and friends on this expedition to help us raise this money.

The run will be taking place when everyone is back together after phase 3 in the villages around field base in the blazing heat, which at that point will be up to about 40 degrees, so it’s going to be a tough and very sweaty challenge for everyone! We’ll need to collect funds in before the end of expedition on the 5th April and we’ll be posting photos of the run on the blog as soon as we’ve stopped sweating and have got our breath back, which could take some time out here!

Right, we better get training… Thanks for anything you can give.

Now for the technical bit…
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Raleigh India. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
