WHO WE ARE - AMURT is an international relief and development organisation, founded in India in 1965. AMURT is significant for being one of the few global NGOs originating from the developing world. - We have worked in over 80 countries and presently have grassroots relief teams and development projects in over 30 countries. - Our greatest strength is our wealth of human resource, particularly our dedicated local staff and our experienced, life-long volunteers, many of whom have sacrificed careers and material comfort to serve others. WHAT WE DO - We work with local people and resources to relieve immediate suffering at the time of an emergency. - We also work to empower local communities to be self-sustainable in the long term. - We see people as capable of achieving far more than they often imagine and support them, within their own social, cultural and religious context, to realise their full human and spiritual potential. OUR APPROACH - We believe that real progress comes with the all-round development of individuals and their communities. - We empower individuals to be the bright, free-thinking drivers of change. Together with these community leaders we foster the principles of responsibility, love and leadership, helping to uplift the whole community. - We lay great emphasis on the development of sustainable projects, which generate their own income and thus can maintain themselves in the long run.

My page:

Hi, thanks for visiting this AMURT fundraising page.

Please take a few minutes to read the following...

Since 2009, AMURT Romania has developed a successful response to the problems of homeless youth and young people leaving the care system there.

AMURT Romania has developed three essential modules (steps) to bring homeless Romanan youths off the streets and find ways to support themselves. Depending on the level of emotional/social skills and qualification, the beneficiaries attend one or all modules.

1) Life & Work Skills: Training directed at learning basic life skills is essential for a person who has not kept a job, ironed a shirt, cooked a meal, maintained an apartment or solved an argument through discussion and compromise.

 2) Vocational Skills: Certified vocational skills are an important step in the training process, enhancing personal qualifications and increasing their chances of being employed.

3) Available jobs: For those who are qualified, a service to find temporary employmentprovides access to the labour market in order to gain experience of working life, and to  improve their financial situation as well as their quality of life.

Our service also includes an innovative agriculture program with a two-fold purpose:

(1) To create jobs for those with poor education who failed to get their qualifications.

(2) To serve as a “back-up” plan for those who are qualified but are not yet ready to face high market expectations.
