Tim Bacon Foundation

Charity

The Christie charity
The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 40,000 patients a year. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years. Ambitious plans are underway to transform treatment and care for cancer patients. These developments include a new £35 million patient treatment centre, which will house the largest early clinical trials unit in the world - and a unique network of £17 million Christie radiotherapy centres in other parts of the area to deliver treatment closer to people's homes. Our charity helps pay for extra patient services, vital research, high-tech equipment and new developments.

The Tim Bacon Foundation is a new charitable foundation that has been established in the name of the late Tim Bacon, restaurateur and founder of Living Ventures.  The Foundation will support charities in the fight against cancer in all its painful and hurtful guises, sadly Tim lost his own battle with cancer in April 2016.

Tim was the driving force behind Living Ventures, over the years he employed, trained and inspired thousands of people. His legacy will live on through the many people his professionalism and charisma touched.

Tim’s friend and business partner Jeremy Roberts has set up the Tim Bacon Foundation to raise funds for various cancer charities. The first fundraising project is to raise money for The Christie Hospital in Manchester and UCL in London to house the latest Proton Beam Therapy equipment.

To get the fundraising ball rolling four amazing people have volunteered to slog their guts out training and then running the London Marathon…

Morgan Jaquiss – Morgan is the Head of Bars for Gusto Restaurants and has worked with Living Ventures for several years working his way to the top of his field

Ed Barlow – Ed is the contracts manager for Barlows Electrical. A company Living Ventures have worked closely with for many years.

Colin McCord – Colin worked at J W Johnsons which was Tim’s first independent venture back in the ‘90’s. Recently he has just rejoined the extended Living Ventures family working with New World Trading Company.

Rosie Gee – Rosie is a former Living Venture employee/friend of Living Venture from Leeds Trinity Botanist and friend of Morgan's. She is adding the glamour to the team and probably carrying the lads for the final few miles of the Marathon.

Known from here on as “Bacon’s Babes” our runners are looking for support in their quest to raise as much money as possible to get the Tim Bacon Foundation started with a bang!
