At a family BBQ, before the consumption of alcohol (we know - shocking!), we decided to sign up for the Brighton Marathon.

Only two members of Team Lumley have completed a marathon before, so this is to be a personal challenge for the remaining three; Greg and James' challenge is to get us through it!

A month later, devastatingly, deciding on a team charity became an easy choice when our beloved uncle John & Lumley Patriarch was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

We couldn't extend his life; we could only do our best to make the remainder of his time comfortable, enriched and filled with as much love as possible.

St Gemma's Hospice were at the heart of this, as they supported our uncle and our family.

St Gemma's Hospice, in Leeds, is the largest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in England. They provide the best possible care and quality of life for people with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. It's a friendly, warm and safe place with a large range of expert services to support patients, their families and friends. St Gemma's is a local charity providing all its services for free - therefore they rely on the support and generosity of the community to help raise the funds needed.

So with the fundraising page set up and our training program discussed, it's now time to run for uncle John and everyone helped by St Gemma's.

Thank you,

Jennie, Laura, Robert, James and Greg x
