Canine Partners
Canine Partners trains assistance dogs for people with disabilities to enable them to enjoy greater independence, better quality of life and, where possible, help them into education and employment. The dogs are trained to help with everyday tasks such as opening and shutting doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches and getting help in an emergency. The Charity aims to meet the needs of people with even the most complex disabilities including members of HM Armed Forces.

My page:

Why canine partner's? Well I have come to know and love Jo and Derby (a canine partner) over the past couple of years and discovered through them the amazing work Canine Partners do by restoring independence and transforming lives. They achieve this by helping folk piece their lives back together by giving them strength, courage, confidence and the competence to get on with life, and primarily for some, not feel a burden to others. Take a look at the video link and see for yourself what a difference these amazingly loyal, devoted and beautiful dogs can have on others. People, like Jo become 'one again'.  In the video you'll meet Jo and and hear her story, you'll also be introduced to Derby her canine partner, buddy, right arm and loyal friend. Sadly, late last year Derby became ill and the beginning of this year saw Jo having to say goodbye to him as he was put to sleep. Imagine losing an adorable loving pet who simply completes you and if that wasnt enough having your independence taken away from you, for a second time. Training these fantastic, beautiful creatures takes many thousands of pounds ensuring it is done well along with ensuring each dog is paired with the right family who will love and cherish them making them part of their family.

I am in complete awe of Jo, her resilience and resolve. at the beginning of the year Jo is a broken woman, but for Derby she's desperate to stay strong in the way he taught her, without him however, it's hard. This page is to help raise money to support this charity's amazing work so they can continue to train dogs to transform lives. Please please give what you can. Below is a link to Jo and Derby's story written by 3 of her children. Don't forget to look at that video as well.

UPDATE: Since making the decision to raise money for this amazing charity I have learned Jo has been partnered with a successor dog, Unis, who we all hope will be able to follow in Derby's brilliant 'paw prints' - your support will ensure that successor dogs are available to remarkable people like Jo.

The rides are going to be very tough especially after a year off the bike, but I will do it, I have to do it and I can definitely do it with your help......knowing I have all your support behind me and helping me make it all worth while for Canine Partners please press that button and donate now .....,-and-our-derby
