Community Integrated Care
The CIC Group (Community Integrated Care), is a national social care charity providing care and support to over 4000 people across the UK. We work across the social care sector, supporting individuals with learning difficulties, mental health concerns, older people and the homeless.
Radio Halton
Radio Halton provides a music and information service exclusively in Halton General Hospital in Runcorn, Cheshire. Our broadcasts continue overnight thanks to software providing a 'round the clock' schedule. We include the news on the hour between 10am and 10pm , when volunteer presenters are on the premises. Our volunteers visit patients on the wards and chat with them to help them relax. We find out what music they like and on returning to the studio, play it for them. We have no paid personnel, everyone volunteers their time, at least two hours per week. In addition to playing music from the past 60 years, we relay commentary from rugby league matches featuring local team Widnes Vikings, collaborating with volunteers at our sister station Radio General in Warrington Hospital, within the same hospital trust. Currently, our team comprises 10 volunteers who provide the service to patients, visitors and staff, and the service has been in existence since 1986. We are run by a committee of trustees, under a constitution. There is a need to explore different methods of broadcasting other than the 50-year-old technology of stethoscope-style bedside headsets which are becoming hard to obtain, as manufacture in the UK is scarce. A method such as wi-fi would enable us to reach departments of the hospital which are currently not served by speakers, but this needs funds we don't have.

Hi  Everyone many thanks for taking the time to look at our fundraising page ,We are John, Derek and Dave and with a combined age of 189 yrs young we are embarking on a challenge to raise awareness and much needed funds for two local charities that add significant support to the Halton area.

On the 9th May we embark on our attempt to walk over 100 Miles along the pathways of 5 canals from Birmingham to Runcorn in aid of St Luke’s Nursing and Dementia Care home and Radio Halton Hospital radio

Community Integrated Care specifically St Luke’s Nursing and Dementia Care home in Runcorn offer a wide range of care and support to older people including residential, nursing, respite and rehabilitation care, as well as specialist dementia and end of life care.

St Luke’s Care Home is based upon Community Integrated Care's commitment to ensuring older people are treated with dignity and respect, and have choice and control over their care. With their excellent facilities, specially trained staff and commitment to delivering the highest standards, St Luke’s Care Home offers the very best in Older People's Care. This we can endorse personally having seen the dedicated care they gave to Marian,John's Wife and Dave's mother and our family in the last 10 months of her life and since, having suffered from dementia she passed away on 16th May 2015.

Radio Halton typically broadcasts live programmes 12 hours a day, between 10am and 10pm in Halton Hospital Runcorn, supplying a wide range of music to cater for most tastes.Patients can access music on bedside headsets during the night if they need to relax when sleep is difficult

As well broadcasting to the wards they can also be heard via speakers in three Out-patient clinics, waiting Areas plus the Tea Bar area at the front of the hospital

Radio Halton have a dedicated and patient-focused team of volunteers of which Derek is one with no paid staff, who also visit the wards of Halton General Hospital speaking to patients and friends and gathering requests on a regular basis.

Overall, music does have positive effects on pain management. Music can help reduce both the sensation and distress of both chronic pain and postoperative pain

We would be most greatful if you can donate no matter how small the amount, but by just looking in on our fundraisng page we are already spreading information on the good work these two charaties do for our local community.

Thank you for your support and best wishes for 2016
