As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. It has a unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to rise to the challenge and make the world of difference to poor and vulnerable people. Sport Relief is an initiative of Comic Relief, registered charity 326568 (England/Wales); SC039730 (Scotland).
Did you know 800million people around the world are illiterate? Feed the Minds is a International Development charity. We develop, deliver and support education projects which encompass vocational training, civic and human rights, health promotion, and peace building. Through our work, people in developing countries can access information and training otherwise denied to them. We began life as an educational campaign in 1964, becoming a Registered Charity in 1967. We remain a small independent charity, delivering all our projects in partnership with grassroots, reputable organisations and community groups in the developing countries. This way, we can reach out to those most vulnerable: women, children and communities who experience abject poverty, oppression, ill-health, disability, and war. Since our inception, we have supported countless people in acquiring skills which, in turn, have enabled them to access better job opportunities, to demand services and cast their vote, to understand and follow instructions on medicine boxes (to name just few instances). In the last year alone, we have implemented 35 projects and supported 36,750 individuals in achieving a level of education which changed their lives. As literate adults, they are also more likely to send their children to school, breaking the cycle of illiteracy which has kept them trapped for generations.
YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional well being and mental health of children and young people. We provide practical support and information and safety net services to help people manage their diabetes. For more information please visit our website: www.diabetes.org.uk.
Right now an estimated 100 million Christians face persecution worldwide. Open Doors provides Bibles, Christian literature, training, literacy programmes and practical support to persecuted Christians who are opposed or discriminated for their faith in Jesus. We are the world's largest outreach to persecuted Christians, working in over 50 countries, including some of the most high-risk places on earth.
The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help them to recover and move on with their lives. The owner of this page is raising money in trust on behalf of the British Red Cross, it is the page owners responsibility to ensure that the British Red Cross is able to channell any money raised for a specific appeal or stated purpose, prior to any fundraising taking place. In the unlikely event that this dialogue has not taken place, then the British Red Cross will allocate the funds raised where ever the need is greatest in furtherence of its charitable objectives.
We will beat dementia The Alzheimer's Research Trust's aim is simple - we want to combat dementia once and for all. We fund world-class scientific research to find ways to prevent, cure or treat Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, including vascular dementia, Lewy Body disease and fronto-temporal dementia. As the number of people with dementia rises, there is an urgent need to develop new treatments. 700,000 people live with dementia in the UK and this is a number forecast to double within a generation. The Alzheimer's Research Trust funds research across the UK and beyond. We consult with scientists on the best way to support research and only fund the best and most innovative work by the most promising researchers to take us towards new treatments. The charity has funded over 150 research projects to make real progress towards ways to cure, prevent or treat dementia and we are now placed among the top 30 medical and health related UK charities. Each project funded by the Alzheimer's Research Trust brings us a step closer to solving dementia. We are finding more of the right jigsaw pieces and fitting them together to fight dementia. 7 Wonders in 7 Days
mpanions

Thank you for visiting my page on Virgin Money Giving.
From 10 Oct '10 (10/10/10) I will visit the new 7 wonders of the world in 7 days, raising money for 7 charities.
I'm looking for 7 lucky people to join me on the trip and will select each one through a YouTube competition. Fancy it?
I'm doing this to make a difference against global poverty and ill health, inspired by my gran's death from complications arising from Alzheimer's disease.
Please support the 7 charities I am fundraising for by making a donation.
You can donate as little as £5 and each donation (plus Gift Aid) is split automatically between all 7 charities. Thank you so much.
The 7 Charities I'm proud to be supporting:

To find out more about my challenge please visit www.7wondersin7days.com
Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
