Charity

Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.
Make-A-Wish Foundation UK grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. The charity was founded in the UK in 1986 and since then we have granted over 5,500 magical wishes to children and young people aged between three and seventeen years old. There are over 20,000 children in the UK living with a life-threatening illness and we believe that every one of them deserves to experience the magic of a Make-A-Wish wish. Anyone can refer a child to us. This year, around 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. Our wishes are truly magical. A small and dedicated team of professional wishgranters works alongside hundreds of volunteers to turn our children’s wishes into reality. Whether a wish is to be a princess or a train driver for the day, own the latest TV or computer equipment, meet a favourite celebrity or just enjoy some special time away from home with their family, a wish come true brings so much to a child’s life and provides memories that last a lifetime for the whole family. Make-A-Wish needs to raise over £5 million per year in order to continue granting these magical wishes. We receive no government funding or lottery grants, relying on the generous donations of the public - and that’s why, for our charity, every donation really counts.

ARM Directors in London - Paris Charity Cycle

Fundraisers:
sarah parham-ARM, Mike Gawthorne, Paul Martin

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/ARMDirectors

This is the fundraising page for Mike Gawthorne & Paul Martin who are undertaking the brave & some would say idiotic challenge of cycling 300 miles in 4 days in June for Make A Wish Foundation.   And to make sure that every single penny raised goes to the charity Paul and Mike will be paying for all the costs incurred for the ride.

Itinerary
Day 1: London to Calais
Our challenge begins bright and early from Crystal Palace heading south on route to the coast. Our long journey today takes us through rural Kent- the garden of England. Our path winds though traditional British countryside, along the North Downs Way before we reach the white cliffs of Dover. The ferry takes us across to Calais and our first nights resting place. 95 miles (approx)

Day 2: Calais to Abbeville
La belle France! Stunning picturesque countryside awaits us in northern France as we travel south through some beautiful quaint villages. Cycle through Desvres, a market town known for its ceramics and continue with the windy roads along the valley of the Canche River. 75 miles (approx)

Day 3: Abbeville to Beauvais
Our route this morning follows the river Somme out of Abbeville.  We finish the day in Beauvais. 70 miles (approx)

Day 4: Beauvais to Paris
Our final day of cycling and the big push to Paris, our final destination. 60 miles (approx)

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
