Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care
Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care (IRGH) provides hospice care at home and in day hospice for patients with a life-limiting illness in Herts and Bucks. Our care is tailored to patients’ needs, whether that is end of life care or support through treatment and into remission. The charity’s free of charge services also include support for all the family following diagnosis, during the illness and after bereavement. Our nurses work closely with other healthcare professionals, striving to eliminate hospital admissions where possible and making the choice to stay at home a reality for thousands of patients each year

I am running the 2011 London Marathon in memory of my Dad who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 1998.

Dad was adamant that he wanted to spend the end of his life at home and surrounded by his family. The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home became involved with us in December 1999 when it was clear that Dad did not have long left to live. Through their incredible support, specialist advice, knowledge and patience we were able to give Dad what he wanted.

In training for this marathon I hope to be able to show a fraction of the courage and determination that Dad showed and by sponsoring me you will be helping other families like ours trying to make a horrendous situation more bearable.

The work done by everyone at Iain Rennie must continue so I will be swapping my heels and cocktails for trainers and energy drinks and hope that you are able to donate anything you can. It really will make a difference.

I have also set up a blog you can follow if you want to see how I'm getting on:

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
