Anne Pharo's fundraising page
Hi, thanks for visiting my page. I am pleased to report that I ran the London Marathon in 5 hours 19 minutes and 53 seconds, a time I feel is amazing considering only a year ago I was unable to run at all never mind walking for more than 10 minutes without getting exhausted.
A little background about me and why this was so important to me.
In January 2010 I was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. It was a devastating blow to me as a single mum with 2 children in primary school and no family at all nearby.
I had a very difficult journey through all treatments which included chemotherapy, radiotherapy and mastectomy before finally being given the all clear in September of that year.
In January 2011 I underwent reconstructive surgery which unfortunately went horribly wrong as I got seriously ill with an infection. In fact I spent most of last year recovering from this and getting back to full health, which included further surgery and also still another surgery to undergo some time this year (2012) before the reconstruction that went wrong will be finished.
When I found out that I had got one of the few places for Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity I was so happy and determined that no matter what, I will raise the necessary funds AND make it through to the end.
Thank you so much for your donation big or small as it all helps. The money will go towards new research in finding the root cause of breast cancer, in order to help us eliminate this disease altogether.
If I can help only 1 woman to avoid going through the traumas that I went through, it has been worth it, and therefore we need money to fund this further research.
X
Anne
