Children Are Butterflies
To provide support and guidance to families* who have lost a child of any age. This we will achieve by: - Extending the support network to those families beyond the hospital, healthcare community, families and friends. - Providing a support community, with other parents in similar situations, to reinforce the slogan "You Are Not Alone". This will be achieved through the web site, through meetings and other social events. - Providing financial assistance for those families who are having difficulty paying for standard funeral disbursements**. * Residing in, and requiring a funeral in, the UK. ** Standard funeral disbursements are: Church fees, minister fees, organist fees, cemetery fees, crematorium fees, doctors' fees. (It is usual for these fees to be waived or reduced for a child's funeral.) Standard funeral disbursements ARE NOT: Funeral Director professional fees, funeral printing, vehicles, flowers, press notices, memorials, catering and anything else, considered by the trustees, not to be essential to a basic funeral.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to visit this donations page.

As some of you may be aware I’m running the Great North Run on 19th September 2010 and if you didn’t know then you do now!

The Great North Run is the world’s largest half marathon event and represents an excellent opportunity to collectively raise amazing amounts of money for some amazing causes.

As an entrant into the Great North Run I’m running to raise money for Children are Butterflies who are a Northampton-based charity that provide practical support and guidance to families who have lost a child of any age and whilst not that well known they have been of tremendous support to my family over the course of the last year.

In October 2009 my 13-year old cousin Sophie Bywaters was tragically killed in a road accident on the A45 in Northamptonshire. The loss of such a young person is never expected but Children are Butterflies were there to give support and guidance to my family at such a terrible time and every one of us is eternally grateful for this.

In my cousin’s memory I will be tackling the long (and apparently hilly!) 13.1 miles appropriately dressed as a butterfly and I would be massively thankful if you would take the few seconds to sponsor me with whatever you wish to donate.

As one of the smaller charities, every penny and pound really does make a tremendous difference and will enable Children are Butterflies to continue to provide the invaluable support and guidance to others when faced with such awful circumstances.

Now if you're unsure about donating online then here is Virgin's little piece on how quick and safe it is...ready...

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

Thank you once again for taking the time to read this and any support you’ve chosen to give. Further information on Children are Butterflies can be obtained from their website at www.childrenarebutterflies.org.uk

And don't forget to claim gift aid if you're eligible!!
