Here we go again!  The early mornings, the cold and wet weather and the many hours on that 3" of saddle.  How I've missed the training on the bike.

But, compared to those whose lives are blighted by this horrific disease, Crohn's disease, my discomfort barely registers.  Having seen Michael, the unbelievable individual who is the inspiration behind this bike ride, fight his way back after being the 11th bowel transplant patient in the UK is truly humbling.  At its worst, I get to spend a few hours with cold hands, pins and needles in the fingers, a sore back and an uncomfortable derriere.  If you've ever met anyone who suffers from Crohn's, you'll know just how much more painful, uncomfortable, life affecting and permanent the disease is.  I am legendary for complaining about how hard I find this cycling malarky (it would help if I dropped a few pounds - like 20!) but amazingly, you don't hear those people who suffer from Crohn's complaining.  They just carry on with their lives as best they can hoping that someday, with your help, someone will find a cure for Crohn's disease.
