Beyond Ourselves
Beyond Ourselves is working in partnership with local Zambians helping to build and develop community schools in the Copperbelt region of Zambia. The majority of children in these schools are orphans and vulnerable children who cannot afford to go to the government schools and are living in communities where there is high unemployment. We offer to partner with a church and school to help resource and develop them by: Building a classroom block, toilet block and kitchen area Running a feeding programme that feeds children every school day Employing cooks and teachers Providing school resources and school uniform Employing a nurse to visit the school once a week It is our belief that with the help of this style of education, children's futures will be bright and hopeful and those employed through the building and running of these schools will also benefit.

We have just finished cycling more than 10,000km through Southern Africa and Asia raising money for Beyond Ourselves in Zambia and United World Schools in Asia. 100% of all donations will go to the charities we are supporting (and not funding the trip!). Visit www.beyondthebike.org for more details about our challenge.

Beyond the Bike is also an exciting educational project; following the route of natural resources used in Smartphones from African mine to Asian factory, connecting classrooms and sharing resources worldwide through our educational partners tutor2U and the Royal Economic Society. We're using a special smartphone, built by a social enterprise, Fairphone, to record the journey.
