Charity
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is the charity that saves lives at sea. The RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews rescue an average of 22 people every day around the coasts and waterways of Britain and Ireland. From 235 lifeboat stations, they are well trained and equipped to put to sea in the most fearsome conditions when the call comes. RNLI lifeguards patrol more than 140 beaches in England and Wales. As well as rescuing people from the water, they are also on hand for first aid and safety advice, making sure everyone can make the most of their day at the beach. Are you passionate about the water? Do you want to be part of a lifesaving team? Whatever the reason for your interest in our work, we’d love to have you onboard. The RNLI is an independent charity and receives no government funding. We rely on public support.

The Ocean to City Race
Borth Rowing Club are sending two teams to participate in the Ocean to City race. The race is 15 nautical miles, which will take over two hours of hard rowing.
It begins in Crosshaven, then out to the mouth of Cork Harbour, Roches Point, (boats that are suited to Ocean rowing will be going to Roches Point this year if weather conditions are favourable) back into the Harbour and down the long straight to Cobh, passing in front of the quays. It continues on past Monkstown and on toPassage West before entering Lough Mahon (where the wheat is separated from the chaff). This wide expanse of water is the toughest stage, as there is nearly always a strong cross wind.
Borth Rowing Club Supporting the RNLI
In 2010 Borth Rowing Club raised over £800 for MIND - the mental health charity. This year we have chosen to support the RNLI, which is the charity that saves lives at sea. Several members of the Rowing Club are also volunteer lifeboat crew at the RNLI Borth lifeboat station.
The inshore lifeboat crew wear a drysuit (with yellow wellies attached), lifejackets and helmet. Optional items include gloves and woolly bears (thermal undersuits) for colder weather. We want to raise enough money to buy some kit for a new crew member. The cost of a full inshore crew members kit is £805, which is why we have chosen that target,
