Ride High
Ride High helps some of Milton Keynes' most disadvantaged children by teaching them to ride and care for horses. In addition to teaching them equestrian skills we work with the children on a range of social, personal and educational skills that they may not be acquiring through conventional learning channels, for example at school or at home. The children we deal with may be in foster care, depressed to the point of suicide, living in an environment dominated by alcohol, violence or drugs, be caring for parents or siblings or come from very deprived backgrounds. We offer children regular access over months and years believing that providing long term consistent support will help them cope with the challenges of daily life and improve their prospects in life.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

I believe everyone should be inspired from a young age to want to make a valuable contribution to society and to make the most of their lives. I would like to fundraise for RIDE HIGH, a registered Milton Keynes Charity which aims to help disadvantaged children and those having difficulties in their daily lives, by giving them the opportunity to learn to ride and look after horses and ponies. There is evidence that for children who are angry, hurt, upset, lonely or underprivileged, contact with horses can have highly beneficial effects.

I would like to ride the Prudential RideLondon 100 miles to raise valuable funds to help the charity continue its work of helping over 80 children a week aged 8 – 17 to give them an opportunity to be inspired and to go on to lead a fulfilling life and to find their place in society.

Children who exhibit antisocial behavior in their daily lives often find that riding provides an absorbing new challenge which can take the place of disruptive activities and for others it builds confidence and self-esteem.  Alongside their weekly riding lessons each child also takes part in our structured clubroom session.  Here, through structured, horse-based activities and interaction with their fellow members, they develop skills in communication and teamwork.

The children that Ride High aims to help are aged between 8 -17 and are likely to fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • children in care or foster children;
  • children from deprived backgrounds;
  • children who are carers for a parent or younger siblings;
  • children who are bullied at school or feel disenfranchised;
  • children who have been in trouble with the authorities;
  • children who have been excluded from school;
  • children who have suffered abuse.
