CAREducation Trust Ltd
CAREducation Trust helps to educate children around the world irrespective of caste, creed, sex, religion or background. One of the Eight UN Millennium goals was to achieve Universal Primary School Education by 2015. Of the 70 million children who cannot go to school, at least half live in India and Africa in dire poverty. All that these children need to better their lot is a chance at a better life. At CARE, we believe that education and vocational training can provide them with that one chance and open a whole new world of opportunities for them. It is their only escape from the cycle of illiteracy and poverty they are born into. CARE was founded and is managed by professional volunteers who give their time freely without any remuneration, fees or even expenses. There are no administration costs deducted, no travel or accommodation costs reimbursed, we are all in it of our own free will and pay for expenses on our own. We form partnerships with well-established local charities and communities who are also stakeholders in our projects. At CARE, we do not believe in giving charity handouts, but in providing the tools to fight poverty. To us all children are special irrespective of race, colour, religion or creed. We are 100% committed to the children in our care for their total welfare including their health. We understand that it is not enough to feed them for a day or clothe them for a month. They need to be taught a trade or skill so they can lead financially independent lives, as they grow older. We get involved with them, their families their lives and their problems at a grassroots level, to offer the best possible solutions to their individual problems.

CARE Trek : Kilimanjaro 2013

My page:

After Rickshawalas in 2012, here is the 2013 challenge.

Welcome to our Virgin Giving page! Now that you have made it this far, please donate to the challenge that we have set for 2013 - to climb up the highest free-standing mountain in the world, rising 19,340 feet above sea level, otherwise known as ...Kilimanjaro.

I will be paying for the trek from personal funds and raising funds exclusively for a charity that is close to my heart - so you can be assured that all donations go 100% towards the charity and NOT to funding our holiday :)

The charity of choice is CAREducation Trust, and it is one that is very close to my heart. CARE's mission is to educate children from underprivileged backgrounds and give them the tools for a brighter future. What struck me about this charity when I have spent time at their projects in India, is the way in which it is truly grass-roots. The charity only builds projects where there are in situ, committed managers who have the skills to get the best out of the children. I was especially impressed at the way in which curriculums are tailored for the needs of street children, who have different needs to those who have the luxury of full time education that we all take for granted. These children can therefore fit in education in a tight schedule of looking after siblings, picking cotton and working on the farm...

Many thanks and please shout if you have any questions – there are still spaces so sign up and join the challenge if you are inspired!

Thank You for any donations.
