As research experts, we specialise in funding world-class, pioneering research at leading universities to find preventions, treatments and a cure for dementia. We believe science and innovation hold the key to defeating dementia and invest in the scientists learning more about the condition and its causes. Our findings improve the lives of everyone affected by dementia now and in the future. We forge partnerships with Government and other key organisations to make dementia research a national priority. Thank you for visiting the donation page for team "Forget-Me-Not". Through Virgin Money Giving you can still make donations which will be quickly processed and passed to Alzheimer's Research UK.

We competed in this years Devizes to Westminster International Canoe race which was held over the Easter Weekend in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK and in the memory of Derek Bishop, who passed away in November 2014 after battling Dementia, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's for seven years.

The DW race starts in Devizes, Wiltshire and finishes just downstream of Westminster Bridge in central London, opposite the Houses of Parliament. The race has been held annually over the Easter Weekend since 1948 and is 125 miles long with 77 portages. The first 52 miles are along the Kennet and Avon Canal to Reading, the next 55 miles are on the River Thames to Teddington. The final 17 mile section is on the tidal portion of the River Thames.

This race is a severe test of skill, physical and mental stamina and planning, with the unpredictable British weather adding a further challenge. This year we had to contend with Storm "Katie". After 18 hours of non-stop paddling through gusting 30mph winds and driving rain we finally retired at Hurley at 2:00am Easter Sunday morning.

All through my training sessions I listened to "Adventure of a Lifetime" by Cold Play. This was certainly an adventure and one that I will not forget.

To everyone who sponsored us, a big thank you, and to anyone who would like to donate to a very worthy UK Charity that is leading ground breaking research into Alzeimer's desease, please follow the instructions on our donation page.
