FOCUS ON THE CROCUS

Fundraiser:
Caterham Rotary Club

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/CaterhamRotaryClub

Focus on the Crocus is a healthy, fun, community based, environmental friendly way to plant in everyone's mind, the opportunity of being part of a worldwide campaign to finally eradicate Polio.

Locally we have worked in partnership with Tandridge District Council as part of A Big Bulb Plant, and in October we planted a maze of 7000 purple crocus bulbs in Queens Park Caterham. 9000 crocus bulbs have also been planted by local schools plus a further 4000 in and around sites in Caterham.

The Ruby Giant purple crocus represents the dye colour dabbed on the  little “pinkie” finger of children aged under 5, to indicate they have been immunised against polio in the few remaining parts of the globe since Rotary International commenced its campaign in 1985.

We are now seeking founder sponsors locally for the "maze" of bulbs that we have planted and the monies raised will be donated to Focus on the Crocus – End Polio Now campaign. The maze will "pop up" once a year when the crocuses will again push up through the surface.

The first 100 people to donate at least £15 will secure a section of the maze and their name will be displayed on a plaque in Queens Park. Additional donations are welcome towards the fight against Polio, which for Rotary is part of the largest worldwide public health campaign in history.
