Charity
Survival for children with cancer and leukaemia has improved from 10% in 1970 to around 75%. The clinical trials and laboratory research conducted by members of Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) has been a major factor in this. The CCLG is the only charity dedicated to supporting the work of those looking after children and teenagers with these life-threatening illnesses. The Group is committed to research and development in the treatment of cancer in these age groups. But although childhood cancer treatment is, rightly regarded as a great success, it should not be forgotten that still today three out of ten children diagnosed with cancer will not survive their disease. The ultimate aim of CCLG is to maximise cure while minimising the early and late side effects of treatment. Information for families of children with cancer is an important issue and to help support both the children and their families we produce a wide range of award winning publications which are available free of charge. Caring for children and curing their cancer remains our goal.

Chirag's cycling to Paris
Hi, thanks so much for visiting my page!
I GET KNOCKED DOWN ... BUT I GET UP AGAIN!
After a serious injury ruined my London to Paris cycle last July, I can gladly announce that I have re-signed up for the same cycle this September!
I am all healed up and back into training for this epic adventure which I will be doing with my good friend Bhavin Patel.
So this is the plan...
In September of this year I am taking on the challenge of cycling from London to Paris over 4 days for the CHILDREN'S CANCER AND LEUKAEMIA GROUP. This is a worthwhile and very deserving charity that is dear to me.
The Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group was formed in 2006 as a result of the merger of the UK Children’s Cancer Study Group and the UK Childhood Leukaemia Working Party, both of which had been in existence since the 1970s.
The CCLG is an association of healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and care of children and younger teenagers with cancer, and underpins all the activity in paediatric oncology in the British Isles. CCLG is committed to research and development in the treatment of cancer in this age group, the ultimate goal of which is to maximise cure while minimising the early and late side effects of treatment. Provision of information for patients and families is a core activity.
The CCLG currently has several hundred members, working in 21 Paediatric Oncology Centres throughout the British Isles, and including about 80 corresponding members from other countries around the world.
As more and more children are cured of their disease, so increasing importance is being placed on investigations of the late effects of treatment, and the long term effects of the disease. Quality of life and psychosocial issues for survivors, as well as children and young people undergoing treatment, are also under consideration.
Through input into a number of national initatives, the CCLG is also involved in improving the services and welfare of children and young people with cancer, and their families.
In recent years CCLG has become a leading producer of high quality information for patients and families. This includes Contact, a quarterly national magazine for families of children and young people with cancer, as well as a wide range of booklets generated through the CCLG Publications Committee.
Day 1: London to Calais (95 miles approx)
Day 2: Calais to Abbeville (75 miles approx)
Day 3: Abbeville to Beauvais (70 miles approx)
Day 4: Beauvais to Paris (60 miles approx)
Please help me to raise money to support this amazing charity.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
