Give me your money.
What with being something of a national celebrity, I'm often asked to put my face and name to charitable causes. I more than often say "NO!" and it's rare that a cause comes along that I want to support and use my massive public profile to inevitably make it a roaring success. But then I was approached by one of my many staff, George Daldry, about getting involved in this here football event and I couldn't say no. It's not only a great opportunity to do something exciting and challenging, but also raise money for people that really need our help. And this really is about the cause as well, contrary to what the papers may say. It's not about saving my failing career.
Your Humble Fabulous,
Chris.
I am involved in supporting a charity event which will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous football match ever using 2 squads of only 18 players. The current record stands at 37 hours and we are aiming for 40 hours plus. The players have to sleep at the pitch side when not playing, only getting 5 minutes comfort breaks for every hour they play. This is an immense commitment physically and mentally but more importantly it?s for a great cause To raise £30,000 to build a school for some of the poorest and oppressed children of the Dalit Community in India. All money raised will go to an organisation called Relief, Education and Development who build the Schools.
