Chris Panayi London Marathon 2010
Hi, thanks for visiting my page.
On 25th April 2010 I'm going to be joining thousands of others running through the streets of London to participate in the 2010 Virgin London Marathon.
After 15+ years of not running for anything apart from a bus or to get to the pub in time for last orders I entered my first 10km race 3 1/2 years ago. Even though I finished that cold, wet day barely able to walk it spurred me on and since then I've completed a number of other races, including 3 half marathons. Just under a year ago I had the crazy idea of entering the ballot for a place in the 2010 London Marathon and I was "fortunate" enough to get a place...
As many of you know I suffer from a form of a group of eye conditions known as Retinitus Pigmentosa and subsequently lost a great deal of my sight as a young child. Whilst growing up my family and I had a great deal of support from the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) in terms of advice and grants for then very expensive and essential computer equipment. I have therefore decided to complete this challenge for the RNIB to try and repay some of the help they have given my family and I over the years and to hopefully help them help other children and adults in the future.
Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
