Teenage Cancer Trust
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the six young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day. We build specialist units within NHS hospitals bringing young people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed just for them. We want every young person with cancer to have access to this specialist support, no matter where they live. Traditionally treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives, young people can feel extremely isolated during treatment, some never meeting another young person with cancer. Being treated alongside others their own age can make a huge difference to their whole experience. Teenage Cancer Trust also educates young people and health professionals about cancer to ensure a swift diagnosis and referral to specialist support. Cancer in young people is rare but we want young people to know the common signs and symptoms so they can seek medical advice if they are worried. We rely solely on donations to fund our vital work. You can help transform the lives of young people with cancer. Visit www.teenagecancertrust.org to find out how.

There are lots of causes worth supporting...

We chose Teenage cancer trust (TCT) after watching a video about Adam Horn, it was one of those moments when you check yourself, we have to get involved...

He got cancer at the age of 15 and spent 7 years battling it. He spent those years living life to the full, and inspiring others to do the same. Adam did the Dumball all the way to Istanbul in 2007, and they raised thousands of pounds to support other teenagers with cancer.

Cindi's Sweets and Salami Emporium

Whats in a name? We tried to think of one that was hard to fit on the window sticker :)

We'll be travelling 2,450 miles (at least) across Europe to Sicily with 50-ish other cars - trust me, this will be a challenge, check the route out. I'm just a little scared now! we will try and keep our blog up to date to you can keep up with the chaos.

mini route

Yes we know how lucky we are :)

Alternate version:

Dumball is like the Odyssey, but better. Imagine the teenagers TCT supports, now imagine them having an environment for them that Ulysses could have built if Penelope had spent those ten years fund-raising instead of knitting!

Concept: about 50 cars + kick ass art car (US) , 14 countries, 7 days, Kosovar landmines, Sicilian driving, Greek gods, you get it.

Mission: 100% of  what we raise goes to TCT, they really do good work, building spaces for teenagers that they can relate to, sharing with mates of their own age while taking the treatment journey.

"Also, we figure anything that gives us the opportunity to drive from Brighton to Palermo dressed as hamsters with a giant salami on the roof of an ART car is worth supporting :) don't you?"

Dates: leaving 3rdSeptember, getting to Palermo 10th September, driving back. We cover our own travel costs, food, ferries.

Thanks for any support you can give to TCT and us and if possible spread the word and watch our silly adventure unfold.

Pez & Yvonne x

P.S. That's over 500 miles a day in mountains in a banger humm silly.
