The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home

RSPCA South Cotswolds Branch
RSPCA South Cotswolds Branch Since 1962 the RSPCA South Cotswolds has offered animal welfare services in Gloucestershire to prevent cruelty, promote kindness to and alleviate suffering of animals. We provide rehabilitation, re-homing and fostering of animals without a home and reduced fee veterinary services. Our branch has a very ambitious plan to build the much needed Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home. We have high levels of unwanted animals in the area, some of which have been living lives filled with abuse, neglect and illness. The home will serve thousands of animals providing them a refuge while we find them loving forever homes. The home will cost 2.5 million to build and we need your help to make this dream a reality. Registered Charity No. 207006

The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home

The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home

My page:

As the leading animal rescue charity in the Cotswolds we have cared for thousands of abandoned, ill-treated and neglected animals during our 75 years of existence.

We rescue animals from unimaginable conditions, we find them new homes and families ensuring that they have a loving and stable environment in which to live their lives and we provide access to veterinary services for the pets of people on benefits – ensuring that animals are never left untreated because of cost.

Yet with all we do it is still estimated that there are over 2,000 animals in the Cotswolds area who are unable to get the help they need because of a lack of facilities.   With our existing resources we could not hope to meet this level of demand and so we are rising to the challenge by establishing a new centre for their care - because without it they will be condemned to live lives filled with abuse, neglect and illness.

The new Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home will be a safe haven – a place of hope where they can learn to trust again and prepare for new lives with new families.

Specially designed to minimise stress and maximise their rehabilitation, the centre will include sound proofed kennels and cat pods, under floor heating, a half-way house where animals can adjust to living in a home again, a state of the art veterinary suite, isolation facilities and outreach and education spaces so people can learn about the importance of animal welfare – it will, in short, provide a centre of excellence for animal care in our community.

Plans for the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home include -

  • Spacious accommodation for up to 27 dogs set into the landscape and opening up towards the fields beyond
  • Bespoke cat pods for up to 36 cats with large window looking out over the garden
  • An area for small animals with bespoke hutches and runs with large screen windows connecting to the landscape and hutches placed within meadows to allow grazing
  • Animal spaces which exceed the national standards
  • High quality isolation facilities
  • Veterinary treatment rooms
  • Late drop off facilities for inspectors and dedicated on-site staff 124 hours a day, 7 days a week

Building The Dream

We have already secured £1.6 million towards the building and establishment costs – and the annual running costs have been addressed through our own income generation activities.   So now we are asking you to join us in our challenge to raise the remaining £2.5 million to make the Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home a reality.

In the current difficult economic climate we realise how large that figure sounds but would it surprise you to know that if just 2,000 people pledged to donate just £1.43 a day for three years (or £1.07 if you are a UK tax payer and gift aid it) then we could achieve our goal.  So, for less than the cost of a macchiato a day, you could help thousands of animals take their first steps towards a happy and secure future with people who will give them the love and care they deserve.
