Hey,

Thanks for visiting my page. On 9th June i'll be taking part in Night Rider - A challenging 100km  cycle around London. To make it even trickier, my start time is 12 20am.... So while many of you will be enjoying a Saturday night with a few beers, I'll be pedalling around the likes of Oxford Street avoiding drunken people at 3am! Fun times!

I’m doing this in aid of Mind – A mental health charity. Mind is a charity which is extremely close to my heart for a variety reasons. My aim is not just to raise much needed funds for the cause, but also to raise awareness to the charity and mental health illnesses. There is still very much a Stigma that surrounds mental illness, and it greatly affects the lives of the victims. One in four people are likely to experience a mental health problem every year, yet unfortunately many are too afraid to seek the help they need. Depression is one of the most common, did you know that every year there are over 39 Million prescriptions issued solely for anti-depressants?

Below is a small extract direct from the Mind website describing more of what they stand for:

“We campaign vigorously to create a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all - a society where people with experience of mental distress are treated fairly, positively and with respect.

We are both a local and national network. Through this network we work with around 250,000 people every year. We are able to help people who experience all types of mental distress, and who may require help from one or more of our services.

People who experience mental distress are always at the very heart of our work. We listen and make sure their voices are heard by those who influence change. We demand higher standards in mental health care and challenge discrimination wherever it occurs.”

I’d like to thank you again for visiting my page, and would really appreciate any donations that you could spare, regardless of how small, it’ll also be a huge boost and help keep me motivated with my training during the next five months.
