A team of five from Debenhams are taking on the Nightrider challenge for Breast Cancer Campaign and need your support!

Cycling 64 miles around London in the middle of night, Nightrider is a city tour with a difference, requiring a lot of training, sleep deprivation and dedication.

Team Debenhams are aiming to raise a massive amount for Breast Cancer Campaign and all donations, big or small, are very much appreciated.

Meet the team:

Paul Baldwin, Director of Buying, Menswear - I do a two hour round trip to and from work every day. This is the best form of guaranteed regular exercise for me as it takes that long on public transport anyway!! My personal drive for joining the team is that I lost my closest friend who I met when I was 11 years old on my first day at school, a year ago.  It really brought home to me how serious this problem is and how close it can come to anyone around you.

Alexander Constanti, Business Development Manager - Having lost both grandmothers to breast cancer, I'll take any opportunity to raise money for Cancer charities.  I cycle to work a couple of times a week, however, the night rider is a good opportunity to increase the mileage while doing some  good in return as I'm also currently training for an ironman, (however I seem to be spending more time injured than I do actually training for it)!

Ian Dallow, Sales Director, South East - I lost my father to cancer 6 years ago so I am always keen to support fundraising activities for any form of this disease.  Also being a keen leisure cyclist this event combines two things close to my heart.  Training this year hasn't been up to my usual standard (banking on it being pretty flat) and I won't be challenging Alexander for the Yellow Jersey (Ironman?!) but confident of getting round and looking forward to seeing the sights and illuminations of London, sober!  Better get in the garage and dig out my lights.

Peter Moore, Head of Retail Services - I borrowed a road bike at the weekend and did my first training ride on Sunday, 25 miles it hurt!  First time I had been on a "racer" for 22 years!  I guess 60 miles in one go, is a bit different than the 3 mile Brompton trip to the station I make daily.

James Pullen, Commerical Manager, Print & Production - With a history of breast cancer in the family, there isn’t a charity I’d rather raise money for, just don’t expect me to wear a pink bra during the event!

I took up cycling about 4 years ago as a way to lose weight and I’m happy to say it quickly disappeared, and so did the bike, only to be replaced with a more expensive one!  I’ve not been able to train much in the last 18 months (new born babies and work have taken priority) so this event gives me a great opportunity to get back in the saddle.  So far I’ve ridden home a couple of times, which was slow and painful.
