CHICKS
Childhood can be one of the most difficult experiences if you are having a tough time at home. CHICKS provides free respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the UK, who would not otherwise have a break in that year. The children CHICKS supports come from a variety of backgrounds from living in poverty, children that are being neglected or abused, either mentally, physically or sexually, children who have lost parents or even children who are full time young carers. In 2012 the charity aims to provide a respite break for 1200 children. With no government funding and relying solely on donations they need your help to make this possible. Can you help to change a child’s life?

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am running the London Marathon to raise money for a great charity called CHICKS. Please read a bit about the charity and be inspired by the great work they do. I am hoping that 100 people will each donate £20 to this cause, and together we can provide at least 2 children with a fantastic opportunity to see the sea for the first time.
CHICKS is a national children's charity providing free respite breaks to disadvantaged children from all over the UK.
Here's how your donations make a real difference to disadvantaged children in the UK...
£4 could pay for a child’s memory bag filled with treasured photos and mementoes from their time at CHICKS
£15 could buy two pairs of wellies, so the children can splash about and get muddy in the countryside
£40 could pay for all the confidence boosting outdoor activities a child takes part in on their break
£90 could provide valuable training in counselling skills for one of our Respite Break Leaders, enabling them to give the very best support to the children
£300 could fund horse rides for 16 children; a wonderful experience that they will always remember and which helps to increase their confidence
£902 could cover all the costs for a much needed week-long break for a child, giving them the chance to make positive childhood memories
The children your money will help come from a variety of backgrounds. They might be living in poverty, be young carers, be victims of bullying or abuse, or have been bereaved. The one thing they all have in common is that they could really benefit from a week away from their circumstances.
Children are referred to CHICKS by professionals (for example, teachers or social workers) so help goes to those who need support the most.
"Thank you for the wonderful time the child I referred had in Cornwall last week. He has come back full of the joys of spring and glowing with happy air. As his support worker I am truly grateful to see him so happy after some of the things he has had to get through. It was also brilliant that he was able to have a week of carefree fun and activities." Christine, Adolescent Support Worker
