Charities
The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign leads the fight against muscle-wasting disease in the UK. We provide free care and support for babies, children and adults affected by muscle-wasting disease and fund world-class research to find treatments and cures, provide grants towards equipment and campaign to raise awareness and bring about change.
We exist to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer, both those living with cancer and also their families and carers. Our primary focus is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer.
Samaritans Vision, Mission and Values focus on ensuring that fewer people die by suicide. Samaritans services are delivered by 18,179 amazing volunteers. Samaritans are the only emotional support line open 24/7. The Samaritans has 201 branches throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
The MS Society is the UK's largest organisation dedicated to supporting the 100,000 people, their families and carers affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is the most common neurological disorder among young adults and is usually diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 45. Our key services and projects include a national freephone helpline, respite care, an MS nurses programme, support for young people caring for families or relatives with MS, funding a dedicated MRI scanner for the diagnosis of MS, providing award-winning information publications and offering welfare grants for home adapdations and wheelchairs.
Help for Heroes (H4H) was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in the summer of 2007. Bryn and Emma met some extraordinarily brave young people who had been badly wounded and they just wanted to do something to help. "It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

Geoff Major (National charities, local ties)
Hi, and welcome to my second fundraising page.
This page is for those national charities with local ties whereas my other page (http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/GeoffMajorYorkshire) is for Yorkshire and Humberside-based charities only.
If you would prefer to donate to just one or a handful of the 10 charities I'm fundraising for, please send a cheque made payable to 'Geoff Major Polar Trek' to the address below stating how you would like your money to be allocated.
North Pole Trek, c/o BlueDucks Limited
Round Foundry Media Centre, Foundry Street, Leeds LS11 5QP
The cheque will be deposited with Barclays Corporate through the client account facility Bartfields Accountants have; Bartfields will oversee the legitimacy and transparency of the monies in and out of the account so you can be assured all your donation will go to the appropriate charity or charities.
I've used Virgin because they offer a better deal for the charity. For every £10 donated (with Gift Aid) the charity will get £12.47 because Virgin only take 2% to cover their not-for-profit costs whereas another well-known donations site takes 5%.
So what are you waiting for? And thank you from me and from the charities, as well as the real beneficiaries.
Oh, and if you donate direct (not through this site) PLEASE add a message to say it is in response to my North Pole trek, so I can keep the running total up to date.
Thank you
