Headway - the brain injury association
Headway - the brain injury association is the UK's leading charity working to improve life after brain injury. Headway - the brain injury association provides support and information to brain injury survivors, their families and carers, as well as to professionals in the health and legal fields. Brain injury can challenge every aspect of your life - walking, talking, thinking and feeling - and the losses can be severe and permanent. It can mean losing the life you once lived and the person you once were. Brain injury is the foremost cause of death and disability in young people today. Headway - the brain injury association campaigns nationally for the introduction of measures to reduce instances of brain injury.

My page:

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

I'm running the London Marathon for Headway, an amazing charity which supports people with brain injuries, and their families and carers. In January this year, our family was devastated when my husband's brother in law, Nigel, suffered a brain aneurysm. Nigel fought bravely for a week, but despite his courage, the skill of the neurology team, and the love and prayers of his family, he faced overwhelming odds, and lost his fight on the 14th January and died peacefully. Sharon lost her soulmate, and Ryan and Callum their dad, a man who was so proud of his boys.

Had Nigel survived, Headway would have stepped in to help Nigel with his rehabilitation. This is a long, slow challenging process that can place incredible stress on not only the victims of brain injury, but also their families. Organisations like Headway provide the support and skills that are so important to overcoming the challenges presented by Head Injuries.

I hope no one else I know ever has to go through the loss we have since Nigel died. He was a kind, funny, caring, remarkable man, and his death has created a massive hole in our lives. However, Nigel would want some good to come out of this terrible event, which is why I've decided to do this run! I need to raise at least £1500 to allow Headway to continue their great work, so please, please, please donate to this great cause. To quote a well known supermarket "every little helps", so please donate if you can. For my part, I will donate 25% of my earnings from my personal training, so I really will put my money where my mouth is!

Thank you,

Gill xxxx
