Charities

Alzheimer's Society
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and creating lasting change for people affected by dementia.
The Stroke Association
We believe in life after stroke. That’s why we campaign to improve stroke care and support people to make the best possible recovery. It’s why we fund research into new treatments and ways to prevent stroke. We are a charity, and rely on your support to change lives and prevent stroke. Thank you.
Clatterbridge Cancer Charity
By choosing to raise much-needed funds for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, you’re helping our cancer patients, young and old, get the best possible care. From nine operating sites across Merseyside and Cheshire, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre treats 27,000 patients a year, offering pioneering chemotherapy, radiotherapy and proton therapy treatments. With your help, we can fund vital research, equipment and support services for these patients that would otherwise be unavailable. These range from new innovations in cancer treatment to the special touches that really help to change lives and give much-needed peace of mind.
Bloodwise formerly known as Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research
We are the UKs biggest blood cancer charity. We are here to beat blood cancer. We stop people dying from blood cancer, we make patients lives better and we stop people getting blood cancer in the first place. We research. We help. We campaign. We share learning. We raise money. We have changed the world for people with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood disorders, but we won’t stop until every single person with blood cancer survives and can live their life to the full.
The National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society
NASS is the patient organisation for people with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) which is a painful progressive rheumatic disease which mainly affects the spine. We provide advice, support and information for patients and their families and with 83 active local branches in the UK.

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

I am running the London Marathon to raise money for various charities that support causes that have particular relevance to my mum, who has had such a difficult couple of years. She first lost her dad, Billy (my grandad), to Bowel Cancer, who was cared for at Clatterbridge on the Wirral. Then her mum, Maureen (my gran), was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, such an incredibly cruel disease. Her brother, Michael (my uncle), passed away after a long fight against illness, initially caused by Leukemia and her husband, Vic (my dad), suffered various Strokes, and continues to deteriorate due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

I found out in late November 2014 that i was lucky enough to have a place in the 2015 London Marathon. It was the day after i had visited my dad and seen him in the worst health yet. He has badly deteriorated. I just hope my training and fundraising updates give him sufficent strength to be able to watch the marathon on tv in April, and i can tell him all about it when i get home.

Love you mum, love you dad. xxx

Finally i would like to raise some money for the National Anklosing Spondylitis Society. I was diagnosed with this painful back disease about 10 years ago, and was finally granted effective treatment, the drug Humira, in 2009. Just before this point my condition had deteriorated so much that my wife, Surinder, had to help me to put my own shoes and socks on. I was in so much pain, i struggled to walk. I can't thank her enough for the support that she showed me. Now i am attempting a marathon. I can't believe how lucky i am in that respect. I just hope my back is up to it.

Therefore i am splitting money raised equally between the following 5 charities:

1.) Alzheimers Society

2.) Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

3.) Stroke Association

4.) The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity

5.) National Anklosing Spondylitis Society.

Please donate anything that you can.

Love

Graham
