The Rik Basra Leukaemia Campaign
We are a blood cancer charity, set up to help address a shortage of stem cell donors on the UK registry. Sadly at this time half of patients in need will never find one. The Rik Basra Leukaemia Campaign runs registration events right in the heart of communities to help boost the numbers and give hope to desperately ill patients. We have signed people up in record breaking numbers but with match rates at thousands to one we need to do more, please help us, thank-you.

Hi, thanks for visiting our page.

The Rik Basra Leukemia Campaign?

Rik had cancer of the blood (acute myeloid leukemia), he was lucky as he had a last minute reprieve through a stem cell donor match and lived to tell the tale.

Rik and his wife work tirelessly to give hope to desperately ill patients by helping address a shortage of stem cell donor on the UK registry managed by the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Why do I care?

25 years ago my father died (age 59) due to the same illness, having undergone painful chemotherapy treatment, physically and psychologically!!

At this time there was no stem cell technology...... with no matched bone marrow opportunity, he had no chance!!!

To celebrate my father's short life, I'm supporting Riks campaign by raising some funds so they can continue their life saving work by running my first ever marathon at the age my father never reached!!!!
