Children’s Heart Surgery Fund is based at the Yorkshire Heart Centre within Leeds General Infirmary and was registered as a charity in 1988. The centre covers not only Yorkshire but also Humberside and the North Midlands making it one of the largest centres for the treatment of heart defects in the UK. The CHSF’s role is to create a centre of excellence for children born with heart problems. Due to new technology and facilities, more children now survive heart surgery; however many of our children need long term care and often return for further surgery. Being a small regional charity with no government funding whatsoever we rely wholly on the support and dedication of our fundraisers to continue our work. www.chsf.org.uk

I DID IT! THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST EXHILARATING AND PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WEEK OF MY LIFE! ON 2nd APRIL 19 PEOPLE, 19 SLEDS AND 106 DOGS SET OFF FROM NEAR TROMSO AND ARRIVED AT THE ICE HOTEL AFTER 6 DAYS SLEDDING. AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!

As I've covered the cost of the trip myself, any money you give will go directly to benefit the charity.
I'll be driving a team of huskies 250km in the Arctic Circle. I set off on April 1st and you can see the schedule below.
Day 1 – Depart UK for flight to Tromso. Transfer to Dog Sled Centre and overnight in Lavvo.
Day 2 – Transfer to start point. Sled to Camp 1. Distance – 30km
Day 3 – Sled through Isdalen (Ice Valley) to Camp 2. Distance – 60km
Day 4 – Mush our way into Sweden to reach Fish Camp. Distance – 50km
Day 5 – Exciting day of sledding through the forest to next camp. Distance – 50km
Day 6 – Cross the frozen lakes of Sweden. Distance – 40km
Day 7 – Last day sledding and one final push through forests and across frozen lakes to Ice Hotel. Transfer to Tromso for celebratory dinner.
Day 8 – We transfer to the airport and board our flight back to the UK.
