Charity

Reach Charity Ltd - Association For Children With Upper Limb Deficiency
Each year, babies are born in the UK missing part of one or both arms and hands. Added to these are a small number of children who lose limbs or parts of limbs due to traumatic incidents or necessary surgery. For many of the families of these children it is the first time that they will have come across such a disability. 'Reach' aims to provide the affected families with the opportunity to get together, share experiences and information about what to do (or not to do) and where to go for advice regarding treatment and to help them realise that they are not alone. Reach offers: * local branches which provide support and an opportunity for children and parents to meet * national office providing advice and support * quarterly newsletter 'Within Reach' * Insurance cover for the child's 'good' arm (covers UK residents from age 2 as long as they are Reach members) * Hire scheme for one-handed Recorders * Bursary Grants to eligible applicants * Annual Activity Week for Reach children * Socialising and Networking with other families

Thanks for visiting my page.

This year I'm running the London Marathon to raise funds for REACH, the Association for Children with Hand or Arm Deficiency. I first became aware of Reach when Jane and I were expecting our daughter Molly, and we were informed during a scan that she would be born with her left hand and forearm missing.

It was obviously devastating news at the time and the need to understand the situation and explain it to concerned relatives and friends was great. Reach was hugely valuable to us at this time providing information and education as well as a support network of families with similar experiences.

The motto of Reach is "it's ability not disability that matters" - the charity provides helpful insight for parents and children to overcome their apparent disadvantage. Anyone that knows Molly knows she embraces this motto with her positive can-do attitude. Reach has played an important part in encouraging children like Molly to explore possibilities in music, sport and other activities. I now want to help them help other parents and children by continuing their very valuable work. For more information on why Reach needs funds please visit......

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Reach. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

Molly and I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

My sincere thanks and kind regards,

Ian.
