Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) was established in 2010 to raise funds to finance the re-training of wounded servicemen and women and in so doing assist them in acquiring the skills and qualifications necessary to find new careers outside the military. Our ability to fundraise effectively ensures we can finance new qualifications, courses and further education through our First Steps Bursary Scheme as well as via organisations and projects; such as The Warrior Programme and The Poppy Factory. This enables the blind, the burn victims, the mentally injured, the amputees and all the other wounded to rebuild their lives and return to the work place and in so doing provide long-term security for themselves and their families. In conjunction with individual fundraising events, Walking With The Wounded also promotes awareness of the charity, our wounded community and the challenges faced by all those living with disability by undertaking high profile expeditions with wounded veterans and serving soldiers that are generously funded by corporate donors. These corporate sponsorships allow private donations such as yours to go exclusively towards the work we do helping re-educate and retrain our injured veterans. Following the success of our previous expeditions to the North Pole in 2011 and Mount Everest in 2012, this year’s expedition, the South Pole Allied Challenge, is our most ambitious yet, and involves three teams of wounded servicemen and women from the United Kingdom, the United States and the Commonwealth embarking on a race to the Geographic South Pole this December. At a time when so many charities are asking for people's generosity, we are hugely grateful for any donations which are made. Please follow our build up to the expedition at www.walkingwiththewounded.co.uk Many thanks for your support.

I am fundraising for Walking with the Wounded's Head Start project, by running the Marathon de Sables 2017.

Jane Keenan's fundraising page
Hi all! Thanks for visiting my page and, hopefully, for sponsoring me!
I am taking on the Marathon de Sables this year in aid of Walking with the Wounded. Money raised will specifically be going to WWTW's Head Start project, which works in collaboration with the NHS to support ex Service personnel with mental health conditions. We are all too aware of the extent and prevalance of mental health issues in the Armed Forces and particularly with veterans, so i hope you will agree that this project is vitally important within our society.
With the kind support of 1 ATR and the QARANC Association i have funded my participation in this year's race, and therefore all money raised will go directly to WWTW. Although i have completed several endurance events to date this will without doubt be the most challenging one by far. In short, i wonder whether i am capable of it, and i am more than a little bit nervous! It is set to be a very tough week of racing, covering 250km self-supported in the Sahara desert over 7 days. There will be lows i am sure, but i hope these will be balanced with a huge sense of achievement and pride that i have the opportunity to race in a team of inspirational people all working towards one goal - better support of those who have served our queen and country.
Please do sponsor whatever you are able. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
Many thanks! Jane x
