2010 Virgin London Marathon

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the great British sporting events, combining elite athletics, mass participation and record-breaking fundraising in one race. The course is a gruelling 26 miles 385 yards long, passing through the streets of London from Blackheath to the famous finish line at The Mall. Since the first race in 1981, 746,635 runners have passed the finish line and raised more than £400 million for charities and good causes. Last year alone a staggering £47.2 million was raised, making the event a Guinness World Record holder as the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

Hi everyone, and welcome to my fundraising page for the 2010 Virgin London Marathon as well as the Lydd Half Marathon in March. As many of you will know I am more used to sliding down hills with a plank of wood strapped to my feet than I am running. But I have set myself one incredibly hard challenge to complete, the 26.3 miles that is the marathon, all to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and the fantastic work that they do.

So please sponsor me, every little helps, and it is a charity very close to my heart. I will be running my little socks off training for the next 4 months. So if you like me, then please sponsor me, and if you don't like me, why not sponsor me for the satisfaction of the hell I am going to go through. Dig deep this charity really needs your support as much as I do.

I will be updating my page reguarly to let my sponsors know how the training is going, and my high and lows leading up to the race. So don't forget to keep checking back, even if it is just to laugh at me, it's ok I can take it. Why not come along on Sunday 25th April and cheer me on, or throw rotten tomatos whatever is your bag, all I ask is you help this very deserving charity.

Well training is well underway, and I am starting to get used to this running business, I am even starting to not look like a tomato at the end of my runs. Well I was until the snow decided to become a permenant fixture in the UK. So now the 6am runs in the freezing cold, which I must admit I do like, even if I do get the odd frozen bum cheek, have been replaced with the hot and sticky treadmill in the gym. Not looking forward to the 8 miles scheduled for tomorrow. The only consolation is the sauna afterwards. Usually the snowboarder in me would love this weather but right now I just want my pavements back. So what else have I discovered??? Well I think I look pretty damn silly in my running tights, but needs must. Also my love of Punk and Rock music has been replaced with cheesy pop while running. I am also in love with my garmin gps running watch, I am turning into gadget girl, but the fact I am still to find a training partner, means it amuses me while I am out on my own. Well until next time, please dig deep, and remember every little helps!!!!!
