Ron Pickering Memorial Fund
The Ron Pickering Memorial Fund (RPMF) raises funds to help young aspiring talented athletes reach their true potential. The RPMF helps recipients make the difficult transition from junior to senior level through support for equipment, specialist coaching or travel and importantly help build the athletes’ confidence and self esteem through recognition. RPMF has raised and awarded over £1.5 million in small but significant grants to over 2,500 talented young British athletes, including all of the London 2012 and 2016 individual Olympic athletics medallists. “Sport is the most precious commodity we have to hand on to the next generation” Ron Pickering OBE Read more about the RPMF at rpmf.org.uk

Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charity. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.

It has always been my dream to compete in the London marathon and Jean Pickering has given me a chance of fulfilling my dream. I am very pleased to be supporting this very underrated, hard working charity.

This comes as a personal challenge to me after losing 5 stone in weight over the past 2 years and my ongoing battle with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome, which I was diagnosed with 5 years ago.

Being a member of Fairlands Valley Spartans running club has given me the opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge, experience and most of all a new circle of friends to enable me to enjoy something I never thought I would be able to do 2 years ago.

About Ron Pickering OBE

Ron Pickering was many things, a teacher, a coach, a broadcaster, but above all he stood for the ethics of sport, the aspirations of the young and for the belief that sport could enhance their lives in more ways than the physical.

In creating the "Ron Pickering Memorial Fund" it is hoped that a permanent expression of Ron's ideas can be established.

As Ron so often said "Sport was born of philosophers and teachers and has survived thirty three centuries because it is based on the ethic of fair play. Athletics is so special because it caters for the young and the old, the fat and the thin, the best and the beginner. Sport is the most precious commodity we have to hand on to the next generation".

The fund is dedicated to assisting aspiring young athletes who have shown by their attitude and dedication that they possess the qualities which will ensure the protection and growth of sport.

Any donation you may wish to make toward helping the next generation of athletes to succeed, would be gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance for reading this and for your support towards this great charity.
