British 10K for OCD-UK

Fundraiser:
Jennifer Smith

My page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/JenniferSmith

Last Sunday I took part in the British 10K in London to raise money for OCD-UK, the leading national charity independently working with and for people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Thank you so much to everyone that sponsored me! I have raised much more than my initial target of £250, so thank you for your generosity.

Although I enjoy running this was my first sponsored run since leaving school, so I didn't really have any idea what to expect.

The atmosphere at the start area was unforgettable. Over 25,000 runners about to tackle the 10K course for their chosen charity, many people running in memory of someone that they have lost.

The race route began at Hyde Park Corner, passing several of London's best known landmarks including St Paul's Cathedral, The London Eye, Westminster Bridge (which we ran across), The Houses of Parliament, and Westminster Abbey, finishing at Whitehall.

There must have been just as many spectators as runners, clapping and cheering on the pavements for the whole length of the route. Many total strangers called out my name as I ran past (it was printed on my running vest) which felt rather weird, but was very encouraging!

I really enjoyed the day, and now I can't wait to do another run!

Several people have asked if they can still sponsor me. Yes, I will leave this fundrasing page up, so you can still donate, thank you.

Virgin Money Giving is a non-profit organisation. Donations will be quickly processed and passed to OCD-UK. If you are a UK taxpayer then Virgin Money Giving will claim gift aid on the charity's behalf.
