Families For Children Trust
Families for Children (FFC) is a registered and approved voluntary adoption agency and Charitable Trust. We operate across Devon, Dorset and Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, placing children from all over the UK. The main focus of our work is to find parents for children needing new adoptive families. Families for Children is committed to providing adoption support to children and families. This support is available when, and for as long as, it is needed. This work is the main focus of our fundraising activities.

ABOUT THE EVENT

On the 16th of August 2010, I will be part of a team of 10 local cyclists who will embark on what many consider to be the ultimate cycling challenge within the U.K.

Pedalling an average of 105 miles per day, we will travel the entire length of the U.K mainland starting in John O’Groats, Scotland and finishing at Lands End in Cornwall, England.

Just to add to the challenge we will attempt to complete this ride in 10 days.

The ride will see the team take in some of the U.K’s most stunning countryside including Loch Ness, Fort William, Ben Nevis, Lock Lomond, The Lake District, Cheddar Gorge and the rugged but beautiful Cornish coastline.

ABOUT ME

For a number of years I’ve supported Dad, Paul Jewels, in fundraising activities. I have always enjoyed these experiences which have, among other things, allowed me to meet many top rugby players and sports personalities. This has whet my appetite for fundraising particularly for disadvantaged children.

My experience has given me the enthusiasm and motivation for fundraising. I therefore decided that it was time to raise money for Families For Children. This charity holds special meaning for me as my twin sister Sarah and I were adopted at the age of 6 by Mum and Dad, Paul and Sandra in North Devon. The link for the adoption was of course Families For Children.

By taking part in the End 2 End in 10 challenge, I hope to raise awareness for the Families For Children Trust so that other kids can have similar opportunities to find a forever Mum and Dad and have a real family as Sarah and I have. There is never a shortage of hugs in the Jewels house!!

I am determined to meet this challenge together with the oldies from Barnstaple who always have a word of encouragement for me.

I hope you can sponsor me for this exciting challenge so that other kids can have a similar opportunity of being loved in a real family.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
